Data Subject Access Requests

Your Rights

Depending on the laws that apply to you, you may have the right to know what personal data we hold about you, receive a copy of it, correct inaccuracies, restrict or object to certain processing, and request deletion. We honor these requests regardless of where you live, subject to legal and operational limits described below.

Delete Your Data at Any Time

You are free to delete all of your data from within the application at any time. Go to My Account → Settings and choose to delete your account; you do not need to contact us or wait for a request to be processed.

We Do Not Share Your Data for Marketing

mediation app does not share any of your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

The only outside companies that handle data for us are subprocessors that provide the services needed to run and maintain the application. Every subprocessor undergoes a security and privacy review before we engage it, and again every year after that.

Keep Your Records in Your Own Storage

Many people want to keep their records after the mediation or divorce process is over — for example the settlement agreement, the financial statements collected during the process, or service provider records such as a home appraisal.

The app lets you store the data needed for mediation and the divorce process in your own personal data stores, such as Dropbox, Google Docs, Amazon S3, Microsoft OneDrive, and other locations. Those copies belong to you and stay with you after you finish using mediation app.

Appointment records we keep

Metadata about appointments booked through the app, such as a home appraisal, is kept in the application. We need it to track the appointment and to pay the service provider who delivered it. This metadata describes the appointment; the documents themselves can live in your own storage.

Prefer Us to Store It? Secure, Low-Cost, Long-Term Storage

If you are not technically inclined, or would simply rather have mediation app keep your records, you can choose secure, low-cost, long-term storage at points throughout your journey in the app. We hope that journey is a short one: a quick resolution is a good thing.

You Choose Whether to Use AI

Using the app's AI features is your choice. You can turn them on or off at any time in the My Account section.

Why We Built It This Way

The founder of mediation app has served as both an Information Security Officer and a Data Privacy Officer for clients around the world, subject to many different regulations and laws, and understands the importance of keeping data safe. He is also a firm believer in each individual's right to privacy, which is why the app gives you the ways described above to store and control your own data.

How to Submit a Request

Submit your request from the email address associated with your account, describing what you would like us to do (access, correction, export, or deletion). If you no longer have access to that email address, let us know and we will work with you on alternate verification.

Identity Verification

Because mediation records are sensitive, we verify the identity of every requester before releasing or deleting data. We may ask you to confirm account details or respond from your registered email address. We will never release one party's information to another party without authorization.

Response Timelines

We acknowledge requests promptly and aim to complete them within 30 days. If a request is complex, we may extend this period as permitted by law and will let you know why.

Limits on Requests

Some data cannot be deleted on request — for example, records we are legally required to retain, information needed for an active mediation involving other parties, or data necessary to resolve disputes. Where we cannot fully honor a request, we will explain what was withheld and why.
